I just got an idea that might be really helpful for fleet ops. Currently, people call primaries by calling out people's names on coms, or doing some sort of set ordering scheme, etc. Why not have the tagging interface allow you to do that for you? Or better yet, make it an existing module that is not that useful.

The way it might work is that when a Fleet commander starts to target someone, everyone in the fleet starts to target that same person. It would be a setable option, like 'lock back 1 target' is in the menu for people in the fleet, and the fleet commander would have 'fleet target mode'. I would think that 4 locks would be a good default. Then, everyone would get the same order of ships for primaries, in general. (Larger ships would get priority, of course, due to their larger signature.)

This is helpful for PVPers, obviously, but also for PVEers in the new regions, making it easier to pick the same targets.

The way this currently works: Fleet commander says 'Primary Kismeteer, secondary Zulu' and everyone goes jumping around their overview looking for Kismeteer, then scrolls to the bottom to find zulu.

The way this would work: Fleet command targets Kismeteer, everyone in gang starts to target Kismeteer, and Fleet command then says 'Primary Kismeteer'. Then, fleet commander see Zulu in a Scorpion, targets Zulu, says 'Secondary Zulu'.

So, to use this ability, Fleet Commanders would have to be present and use the module 'Auto Targeting System', though you might consider boosting the CPU to like 40, grid to like 5. They'd get the bonus from the increased number of targets, of course. But if they are taken down, the fleet loses this benefit.

Just a thought. I wouldn't want to increase amount of communications during a fleet battle normally, but I can't imagine it would be a huge amount of extra traffic compared to sending out the message on voice coms. Should make battles more interesting, and possibly shorter due to more easily focused fire.
